PIVCO, Norway's first car manufacturer, has contracted with Glacier Bay to supply air conditioning systems for the new CITI electric cars. The CITI has become poplar in a number of pilot "station car" programs in the United States and Europe. For the American market, the installation of air conditioning proved to be mandatory.
PIVCO's own "in-house" effort resulted in an A/C system which was ultimately found to be unacceptably noisy, inefficient and difficult to install. After investigating many options, the company asked Glacier Bay to design, build and install a unit for evaluation and testing. Following testing of the new system, Glacier Bay issued a press release announcing the project's success and contracted to supply the company's current and future air conditioning needs.
As PIVCO retools to move the CITI from beta test into full scale production,
Glacier Bay will provide design and consulting services on the complete climate control
system.
